Dry and flaky? 4 tips to keep skin hydrated in winter.

It’s hard to stay hydrated when there’s a chill in the air. Winter dryness can wreak havoc on sensitive skin. Here are a few tips for staying juicy throughout the rest of winter.

  1. Drink Water – Hydrate from the inside out. We sometimes forget to drink our eight cups when it’s cold outside. It’s tempting to reach for warm caffeine-filled mugs when we’re snuggling up in front of the fire. But caffeine can further dehydrate, so replenish with a glass of water after these beverages. Try hot water with lemon and honey if you want to stay warm.

  2. Step up your moisturizer – Your skin may have different needs in winter. Find a powerful moisturizer, that has pure ingredients that seal in moisture. Barefoot Naturals Body Butter contains ingredients like shea butter, coconut oil and candelillia wax which are all super-strength moisturizers.

  3. Use a humidifier – Humidifiers aren’t just for colds. They’ll bring some of that moisture back into the air inside your home when the heat is blasting and drying things out.

  4. Ditch drying soaps and cosmetics – Soaps that contain alcohol or other harmful ingredients like sulfates and polyethylene glycol are not only harmful to health but can be extremely drying. Choose a hydrating botanical soap, like Barefoot Naturals soaps which are all naturally hydrating, and safe to use on the face and your most sensitive areas.
